The VR Centre in the Grace Hopper Building offers the opportunity for holistic research into technologies and applications of immersive and interactive interactive media as well as their utilisation and evaluation.

This includes in particular

• Extended Reality (XR), i.e. Virtual (VR), Augmented (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR)
• Mediated Reality incl. Alternate, Diminished Reality
• Immersive Video formats such as 360° videos and
• spatial audio.

The project with the support of the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology are part of the Ilmenau Interactive Immersive Technologies Centre (I3TC).
The project was funded by the Free State of Thuringia with funds from the European Union as part of the European Regional Regional Development Fund (ERDF) (ERDF programme 2021 - 2027, 2022 FGI 0001).
